TOM FRANCIS
REGRETS THIS ALREADY

Hello! I'm Tom. I designed a game called Gunpoint, about rewiring things and punching people, and now I'm working on a new one called Heat Signature, about sneaking aboard randomly generated spaceships. Here's some more info on all the games I've worked on, here's the podcast I do, here are the videos I make on YouTube, here are some of the articles I wrote for PC Gamer, and here are two short stories I wrote for the Machine of Death collections.

My Short Story For The Second Machine Of Death Collection

My second piece of published fiction will be out in July this year, as part of This Is How You Die: the second collection of stories about a machine that can predict your death. (My first was a story in the original collection, and you can read it here).

But! Editor David Malki is also Kickstarting a card game based on the same concept, and since it’s blown its funding goal by over 1000%, they’re releasing a few stories from the anthology to say thanks.

One of them is mine! You can read it now! Here it is!

It’s about a supervillain’s henchman tasked with the job of having their enemies killed in a way that doesn’t contradict their predicted deaths. It is called: LAZARUS REACTOR FISSION SEQUENCE!

If you can’t read it, go here.

Rosti: I've been unashamedly excited to see this story since you let us know it had been accepted into this collection months ago. Superb, Tom - you did not disappoint.

Lion: Throughout the whole thing I kept seeing Evil Genius. I'm not sure if this was intended.

Great story though!

Kim Slawson: Very nicely written! As Merlin Mann might say, "NICE!"

Jackrabbit: Tom, this is fantastic. Cannot wait for this book to come out so I can get a hard copy for my bookshelf.

Bret: Well, this kicks the pants off your story in the first collection, and that one was pretty good.

Funny, with a nice bit of actual tragedy mixed with the black humor. If the rest of the collection is this good, I'm buying extra copies.

Tom Francis: Haha, cheers everyone!

Jordan: Wow, what a story! Very entertaining!

Oji: this is brilliant...

Paul: Wow Tom! That was amazing! The last line made me laugh an oddly happy laugh. What a great story.

Paul: Over the last year, an thought has been forming inside my head: I think I want to try writing.

This was the last straw, it was just too inspiring. There's nothing I can do. I'm gonna give it a go.

Tom Francis: Wow, that's great to hear! Good luck!

Dylan: Wow, reading your stories have made me interested in the rest of the book(s). Really great work!

athomas: Just writing to say, favorite story so far in the "this is how you die" collection. Great dialogue, witty, clever, funny. Props!
