TOM FRANCIS
REGRETS THIS ALREADY

Hello! I'm Tom, I write about video games for a living at PC Gamer. I'm also making a game called Gunpoint, I sometimes write short stories and stuff, and I like figuring out how to be happy. In my spare time I enjoy looking to the right and laughing at nothing.

How It’s Fucking Going

More

Rei Onryou: Welcome to programming :)

Nick: The next step is when you realise things are only working because of the bugs. That's fun.

TooNu: The title made me think that you are pissed off with the question 'How is Gunpoint going?'.

"hows Gunpoint going? how's it going? why don't you jsut fuck off that's, how it's going."

dual_barrel: ****ing nothing beats perseverance.

nine: Use version control you fuck!

Tom Francis: I don't really know what that fucking means in this context.

Bret: Well, at least he didn't describe it as making love.

It's always trouble when computers ask what is this thing you humans call "Love"?

1stGear: I picture desks being flipped every time someone asks Tom how the game's going. Followed by lots of enraged screaming and stomping out of the room.

This is also pretty much why I refuse to learn a programming language because everything I've seen and heard about it makes it sound like the abyss.

verendus: Now you're making me feel guilty for ever complaining about anything wrong with any game.

Mark Sachs: This is pretty much what programming is, when you get right down to it. A lot of screaming and swearing and then it turns out to be some stupid one-line fix.

Pod: "I don't really know what that fucking means in this context."

I, like nine, assume that a .gmk file is the input to gamemaker, and not the output? Each of those files representing a different 'version' of your source?

Lookup 'git' and 'Mercurial'. Both will do what you need.

Connor: If more than a good half of your source code isn't furious, commented swearing, then you're not doing it right.

Gwathdring: This sort of thing actually makes me want to be a programmer more. :P

mabb: This game is looking sweet.

I have just started learning the Game Maker Language myself. It feels like high school math except I fucking UNDERSTAND IT.
