The trailers looked generic dead teenager.

Saw this article and my interest was piqued in a film I’d had no interest watching. Your advice is usually pretty solid so I hastened to the cinema at the first available opportunity.

Here, here! I’ve been proselytizing this movie to my friends for the last week, which is tricky when you can’t tell them much about it at all.

And honestly, I would have watched an entire movie of Bradley Whitform and Richard Jenkins shooting the shit together.

Tom, have you seen Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon? It plays with genre conventions (Slasher movie ones, specifically), in a really fun, interesting and similar (if more wink-y than The Cabin in the Woods) way. Track it down if you can.

I wouldn’t say it’s ultra-intelligent, but it’s very knowingly not the dumb film it intentionally resembles at times. It’s satire with a hat on – there’s a reason for all the tropes and cliches.

So i’m not much of a one for murders with axes and such. I kinda want to know how much it’s the clever film it seems to be, and how much it’s the dumb film it seems to seem to be. Is there any way to ask how much it’s smart and psyche-y and how much it’s chopping without runing it?
