Good casting is most definitively half the work, and the pilot of this did not disappoint. I look forward to further episodes.

Good casting is half the work in a good series, it seems.

I mean, besides the wonderful Buscemi, how about that Michael Shannon as the fed, Van Alden?

Thanks for mentioning this show. I don’t follow Television, so I had no idea this even existed- but since I think Buscemi is a great actor (and after a quick bit of research found out Scorsese is involved), I decided to give it a go.

Really enjoyed the pilot. I think this might be a show I actually start following as it is released.

I’ve been enjoying it, and I’ve always been a fan of Steve Buscemi; he’s probably the best-known unattractive and realistic-looking man in hollywood.

The thing is, in the movies where he’s made an impression – Big Lebowski, Fargo, Resevoir dogs – he was surrounded by people who dressed or acted unattractive (The Dude was not a snappy dresser) and realistic (Fargo). In Boardwalk Empire, it seems like almost every other character is played by at least reasonably attractive people (except for the ones that aren’t supposed to be attractive, like the politicians). There’s nobody who looks as bad as Buscemi – I mean that kindly.

It sets him apart. You can view that as a good thing or a bad thing; I haven’t decided yet for myself.
