I had the new Modest Mouse and Ted Leo a month ago++. Baiscally people upload albums on sites like sendspace and gigasize and post them on the board. There is also a lot of obscure music, b-sides and live recordings.

The closest thing I can think of would be sites like Last.FM and the like, which offer RSS feeds of when someone reccomends you a song (although I know you’ve had problems with them in the past), but indeed – it could be an interesting idea for the record companies and artists to take note of..
