The creator didn't intend it that way either - he's said the guy is only brown because all possible colour schemes require him to be the same colour as the tree, which doesn't look like a tree if it's any other colour. I'm in no way one of those pansified, easily-offended people who tend to complain about such things, but I think whichever way you look at it, intentional or not, that design is basically disgusting and not to be publicly applauded.
