They've really started to humanise Dexter a lot over the last three or so episodes too. The series began by watching an emmotionally "empty" individual satiate his need to kill week after week (as in what we saw week after week I mean). Now he's actually becoming a person who's able to recognise Deb's feelings of isolation (or at least, respond non-verbally with empathy), who actually now prefers "enchanting Rita over the worried [rape victim] one". A very heart-rending ending too.
